RI Flag Birthday Cake!
This lovely cake was an order for a birthday cake for an amazing person who just happened to be a state representative for the state of Rhode Island. Thus, we decided it would be great to make the outside of the cake somewhat official-looking - so it was modeled on the state flag. The stars, anchor, and border of the cake are all fondant - the stars created with a cookie cutter and the anchor was traced using wax paper, piping gel, and a anchor template. The inside of the cake, however, is tie-dye! I used a vanilla cake and separated the batter into four bowls - and used food coloring to create red, blue, green, and yellow batter.

Lemon Blueberry White Chocolate Cupcakes
So I realize that my lighting for all of my photos are simply awful, but! I need to get the pictures before the cupcakes are eaten, and I do my baking in afternoons/evenings. In any case, these are lemon blueberry white chocolate cupcakes, with lemon cream cheese frosting. I loved these cupcakes! The frosting is delicious and the cake is a perfect blend of all three flavors.

Even more chocolate cupcakes.
So here are some chocolate cupcakes I baked last weekend. The cupcake all the way to the left has a peanut butter filling. The middle cupcake has a vanilla frosting and mini chocolate chips. The cupcake on the right has a sweet mocha hazelnut sprinkle which I think would be fantastic on a mocha/espresso cupcake... hmm... I'll have to store that one away and give it a try later. All in all the cupcakes were good, but I think I'll try something new this weekend... trying to decide between a coconut cupcake, a lemon blueberry white chocolate cupcake, or chocolate orange. !

Gregory's Chocolate Birthday Cake
Unfortunately, I neglected to cake a picture of the cake before we started eating it. But I'm pretty sure you can imagine what the rest of the cake looked like. Four layer chocolate cake, with chocolate frosting between the layers, chocolate frosting on the outside with a chocolate frosting star-tip border along the bottom and on top. There are also chocolate chips on the side of the cake that went all the way around. I only wish I had made another of these for me...

The Kelly School of Irish Dance
This past weekend I made 144 cupcakes for The Kelly School of Irish Dance. Their recital was yesterday, the 19th of June. My sister is a dancer of 13 years, and for the past few she's been with this dance school and truly enjoys it. I like to do what I can, and what I can do is bake cupcakes! I had 24 boxes of 4 cupcakes in the KSID colors of bright pink and green, and 24 boxes of single cupcakes. I did vanilla and chocolate. I had the wonderful assistance of my mother and Gregory assembling boxes, sprinkling sprinkles on cupcakes, boxing cupcakes, and tying them up with the ribbon. I think the came out wonderfully, and we actually managed to sell every box.

Dad's Birthday Cake
This is my Dad's birthday cake. Oh, writing on cakes. You are not a fun time. I think I'm going to dedicate my leftover frosting from this cake to practicing my writing. This was my first attempt at an argyle pattern, and I think it turned out pretty well. My awesome boyfriend was visiting for the weekend and was nice enough to flatten my fondant and cut out allll of the little diamonds for me. I then piped on the crisscross lines and the dot borders. Vanilla cake, vanilla frosting filling, almond-flavored frosting. I think one of my next projects may be a plaid... hmm...

Polka-Dot Cake
Oh, hello polka-dotted cake. I am in love with you. It is Ina Garten's Chocolate Cake recipe. One note about the recipe is that if you use a flavored coffee, it is very possible that you will be able to taste it when you eat the cake. I used a cup of coconut coffee when I made it, and the coconut flavor is definitely present. Strawberry filling. The polka dots are made of white fondant and cut out using different sized circular cookie cutters. The end result was definitely eye-catching.
