Dracula cake for Dawn's birthday!

So my friend's Dawn's birthday was this past Monday, so I made her this adorable Dracula cake! It was a 6" lemon cake with a vanilla buttercream filling, vanilla buttercream frosting, chocolate frosting for the hair, and fondant for the eyes, nose, mouth, fangs, and ears! Whew! I used just a teeny tiny bit of ivory for the skin, and delphinium blue wilton coloring for the mouth/eyes. I used a Wilton FoodWriter marker to draw the red on the fangs.

Since it was only a 6" cake, I had some extra batter and used it up with some cute cupcakes with a neon  green frosting and some cute sprinkles. Doesn't my Dracula have the cutest little ears?!

I got this idea from Coco Cake Land. She has plenty of super adorable cake/party ideas! I may have to try her little green witch kitty...

Danny and Anya's Wedding Cake

This was wedding cake #3 for two of my best friends who got married yesterday. It was a hawaiian luau theme, so they requested a coconut cake with pineapple filling. As neither of them are huge fans of frosting, I went with a very light whipped cream cheese frosting which complimented the cake perfectly. We went with three tiers - 10", 8", and 6". While I had a few moments concerned about the frosting due to the warm weather, it really did come out how I had envisioned it. Also, the couple seemed quite happy with it, and that, after all, was the entire point.

Cake Tattoo!

This was a birthday cake for my lovely sister. As the title clearly states, I used Duff's Cake Tattoos. I just used a white frosting for the base and a pink frosting for the borders. Definitely cute, and they have a ton of other designs that I'm looking forward to using!

Gregory's Chocolate Birthday Cake

Unfortunately, I neglected to cake a picture of the cake before we started eating it. But I'm pretty sure you can imagine what the rest of the cake looked like. Four layer chocolate cake, with chocolate frosting between the layers, chocolate frosting on the outside with a chocolate frosting star-tip border along the bottom and on top. There are also chocolate chips on the side of the cake that went all the way around. I only wish I had made another of these for me...

Dad's Birthday Cake

This is my Dad's birthday cake. Oh, writing on cakes. You are not a fun time. I think I'm going to dedicate my leftover frosting from this cake to practicing my writing. This was my first attempt at an argyle pattern, and I think it turned out pretty well. My awesome boyfriend was visiting for the weekend and was nice enough to flatten my fondant and cut out allll of the little diamonds for me. I then piped on the crisscross lines and the dot borders. Vanilla cake, vanilla frosting filling, almond-flavored frosting. I think one of my next projects may be a plaid... hmm...

Happy Birthday, Mom!

So this is my mom's birthday cake! She actually had no idea I was making this cake... I baked it while she was out to dinner with friends and then took the cake to work with me the next day and decorated it while on my lunch break. The cake is chocolate with a raspberry filling (because that's her favorite combination, and mine.) The flowers I purchased at Joanne's to save on time. And, they were adorable. This is actually probably my favorite cake I've made to date. If only I could just nail lettering, everything would be awesome. Especially the evasive letter "o."

Good Luck Katie!

This is the "Good Luck Katie" cake. It is quite similar to the Swirly cake. Because I love swirls. The colors were of my choosing and I just love the combination. All of these colors are from Duff from Ace of Cakes. That coloring was such a good investment... Anyway, it's a chocolate cake (I make a lot of chocolate cake, don't I?), with a raspberry filling, and buttercream frosting.

Congratulations

Not my absolute favorite, but I do love the roses! I'm not a huge fan of white cakes, really. This is a red velvet cake. Oh red velvet. You are so delicious. The cake was for an Election party for someone who had run for State Representative. She's amazing, and, she won!

The Wedding Cake

This cake is named the Wedding Cake because, as you could probably guess, it was for a wedding. :) This is a two tier cake, the bottom a 9" and the top tier 6". The cakes are lemon with a vanilla filling, and vanilla frosting.  The tops of the tier are a cross pattern, with a dot-pattern for the sides and border.

Beach Cake

Here is my lovely beach cake. The beach is a little empty, yes, but I didn't want it to look crowded! And it leaves it open to change the cake - there is plenty to do with a beach scene. For my first one, I didn't try anything overly complicated. The cake is funfetti, with a plain vanilla frosting covered in crushed graham cracker, and a vanilla frosting dyed blue with food coloring for the water. The umbrellas are simply cocktail umbrellas, and the beach towels are sour airheads. The fish are swedish.

Fish cake

Here is my lovely fish cake that I created for my dad's birthday.  The cake is just regular vanilla cake from an 8" pan, with buttercream tinted green with green food coloring. The scales are necco wafers, the eye is a junior mint, and the mouth is a bit of starburst. Perhaps next time I would make the tail a little bit smaller, but all in all he's pretty cute. I certainly make a lot of animal shaped cakes, don't I?

Sheep cake

This lovely sheep cake was time consuming, but worth it. The body of the sheep is a lemon cake, the head is was made using a small oven proof bowl, consisting of chocolate cake, and then there are 3 cupcakes making up the feet and ears. There is white frosting covering the body, and then chocolate frosting using a tip to create the feet, ears, face. The marshmallows (sadly) were put on one by one! The didn't want to stick otherwise. :)
