This is my Dad's birthday cake. Oh, writing on cakes. You are not a fun time. I think I'm going to dedicate my leftover frosting from this cake to practicing my writing. This was my first attempt at an argyle pattern, and I think it turned out pretty well. My awesome boyfriend was visiting for the weekend and was nice enough to flatten my fondant and cut out allll of the little diamonds for me. I then piped on the crisscross lines and the dot borders. Vanilla cake, vanilla frosting filling, almond-flavored frosting. I think one of my next projects may be a plaid... hmm...

Polka-Dot Cake
Oh, hello polka-dotted cake. I am in love with you. It is Ina Garten's Chocolate Cake recipe. One note about the recipe is that if you use a flavored coffee, it is very possible that you will be able to taste it when you eat the cake. I used a cup of coconut coffee when I made it, and the coconut flavor is definitely present. Strawberry filling. The polka dots are made of white fondant and cut out using different sized circular cookie cutters. The end result was definitely eye-catching.
Birthday Flower Cakes
These cupcakes were created for my cousin Patti's birthday. All chocolate, I used a silicone pan that created flower-shaped cupcakes, though they actually used more batter than a traditional cupcake, so I thought of them more as "mini cakes." I used the pastel yellow, pink, and lavender - all Wilton coloring. For the centers of the flowers I used pearlized sprinkles and sanding sugars. The flowers were done with a circle tip, tip 10.
Emily's Birthday Cake
This was a birthday cake for Emily! It was a vanilla cake with almond frosting and a vanilla frosting filling. The colors were purposefully those shades, because she tends to wear a lot of gray and black. The roses turned out pretty well - I used the Wilton burgundy color. I actually think this is my best writing to date. :) The black around the base of the cake is fondant.
Peanut-Butter Filled Chocolate Cupcakes
These were delicious. Dark chocolate cupcake with a peanut butter filling, dark chocolate frosting, and to top it off half of a mini peanut butter cup. I just used a 1M pastry tip to frost them.

Cupcakes!
This is a chocolate cupcake with a two-toned frosting. I used one pastry bag and attempted to put half violet frosting and half green frosting.
Red velvet cupcakes with whipped frosting and an adorable cupcake sugar topping.
Chocolate cupcake with the purple frosting and some really cute sprinkles.

Operation Use-Remaining-Frosting: Success!
Vanilla cupcake filled with strawberry jam... who doesn't enjoy strawberry jam?!
Birthday Cupcakes
Here is a commission for birthday cupcakes to look like one cake. All of the cupcakes were vanilla with tin foil wrappers, the frosting are all buttercream and tinted using Duff's Electric Color Gels, though the purple cupcakes were also a blend with Wilton Icing Coloring as well. All the cupcakes were frosted using a round pastry tip. The flowers are completely beautiful as well as edible, made out of sugar and crafted by Mochasof, and then the sprinkles are silver and pearlized.
